A Parigi passò una serata insieme a Quentin, un caro amico francese, a dissuadermi dal fare il bagno nel Canal St. Martin. O forse lei mi spronava a buttarmi e lui mi convinceva che non era una buona idea..... non mi ricordo più.

Con la sua ironia e competenza scrive su LesMademoiselles per arricchire il blog di una delle arti che più ha arricchito la nostra vita: la musica.

special contribution of a dear friend of mine and partner in crime: Federica Farassini. She was born in Biella, 26 years ago, singer and passionate of many different musical genres! 

When we were in Paris, she passed one night with Quentin, a special French friend, to dissuade me to make the bath in the Canal St. Martin. Or she tried to convince me to do it, and him convinced me that it was not a good idea..... I don't remember anymore!!

Federica (LaFetch) collaborates with LesMademoiselles in order to enrich the fashion blog talking about one of the art which has more colours in life: Music. Today she will talk about the Franz Ferdinand, with the irony and the impudence that inscribe her.

Franz Ferdinand - Right Toughts, Rights Words, Right Action

Son passati quattro lunghi anni dal loro ultimo lavoro. Tutti pensavano che fossero finiti, e invece come solo i migliori sanno fare, hanno tirato fuori dal cilindro questa chicca. Il
primo singolo dell'album, 'Right Action', recita "..this time, same as before, I'll love you forever" ed è esattamente ciò che provo per questo gruppo scozzese che da sempre mi fa del bene. Le sonorità richiamano (per la gioia dei più) quelle dei primi due album ('Franz Ferdinand', 2004 e 'You could have it so much better', 2005). Ci tengo a sottolineare che a me 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' (2009) è sempre parso un Album con la A maiuscola, ma a quanto pare sono una dei pochi a pensarla così.

Comunque, questo album ci nutre, purtroppo, di solo 9 canzoni, per una durata totale di 35 minuti di puro godimento.

I Franz Ferdinand, da sempre a mio avviso, si contraddistinguono per un'eleganza e per un'originalità che si può cogliere guardando uno qualsiasi dei loro video. In effetti, devo ammettere che quando ho visto, nel video di 'Evil Eye', la faccia del buon Alex Kapranos cantare direttamente dalla pancia di un raffinatissimo signore leggermente sovrappeso non ho potuto trattenere le risa. Puro genio.

I richiami di questo album sono principalmente autoreferenziali, ma ci possiamo trovare dentro anche un bel po' di The Beatles ('Fresh Strawberries' su tutte), ma d'altronde dove non si trovano loro rimandi?! E ovviamente anche dei Kiss ('Love Illumination'). Ci lasciano con un malinconico "Goodbye Lovers & Friends", che ci si augura non preannunci un'altra pausa lunga come l'ultima.

Insomma: Franz Ferdinand, Les Mademoiselles sono vostre fans.

It passed four long years since their last work. Everyone used to think they were over, and instead as only the best can do, they pulled this doozy out of the hat. The first song from the album, 'Right Action', says "..this time, same as before, I'll love you forever" and this is exactly what I feel about this Scottish band that since forever is making me right. The sonorities recall (for the most's happiness) the ones of the first two albums ('Franz Ferdinand', 2004 e 'You could have it so much better', 2005). I want to make clear that I always thought that 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' is an album with A capital letter, but as it seems I'm one of the few in thinking so.

However, this album, nourishes us only with 9 songs, for a total duration of 35 minutes of pure delight. Franz Ferdinand, since always in my opinion, stick out for the elegance and eccentricity that can easily be got in a random one of their videos. Actually, I have to admit that when I saw, in 'Evil Eye''s video, the face of the good Alex Kapranos singing directly from the belly of a super polished and "lightly" overweight I could not hold back laughs. Pure genius.
The references in this album are mostly autoreferencial, but we can find in there also a lot of The Beatles ('Fresh Strawberries' more than all the others), but after all who doesn't refer to them in contemporary music?! And, of course, also The Kiss ('Love Illumination'). They leave us with a melancholy 'Goodbye Lovers & Friends', that we hope it won't forewarn another long break before hearing from them again.

So: Franz Ferdinand, Les Mademoiselles love you.
