Anche se sabato scorso non si è concessa, ecco il ritorno de LaFetch! From Torino, ci scrive di musica e ci racconta aneddoti della sua esperienza musicale e della sua vita sempre di corsa. E' la mia cara amica e collega di bravate Federica Farassini. 26 anni, nata a Biella, bravissima cantante e appassionata di musica. Critica e irriverente quando si parla di musica, ma anche quando si parla di altro... M.I.A. - Matangi
Lo scorso sabato ho bucato. Ho avuto un po' di cazzi e non ce l'ho fatta a dedicarmi con il giusto impegno a questa rubrica, chiedo venia.
Ma parliamo di cose serie:
chi mi conosce lo sa, io periodicamente ho un tormentone che mi esalta e che metto in continuazione: alle feste (bei tempi andati), alle cene, in macchina, ma soprattutto nel mio buon vecchio lettore mp3. Ecco, Bad Girls è stato a lungo uno di questi. E' per questo che aspettavo l'uscita di questo disco con molta frenesia ed aspettativa. Finalmente (il singolo Bad Girls è uscito nel lontano gennaio del 2012) è arrivato, Matangi. Il primo ascolto, come per ogni suo lavoro, è stato.. particolare. Poi l'ho messo nel sopracitato lettore mp3 ed aggirandomi per le strade di Torino ho potuto gustarmi la potenza di questo album: i bassi, le melodie, il suo pseudo esotismo e la sua geniale tamarraggine elettronica.
M.I.A. è una che ne sa a pacchi. Ammetto di averla conosciuta in primis per la sua partecipazione alla colonna sonora di The Millionaire che l'ha fatta diventare nota a livello mainstream (e giungere quindi anche alle mie orecchie), e da lì mi sono infognata e mi sono messa ad ascoltarla parecchio. Bisogna saper ammettere i propri limiti; ed un altro di questi è che io di rap ed hip hop non so nulla. Quindi non sono qui per disquisire a riguardo della sua corrente, delle sue influenze e della sua innovazione, perchè rischierei solo di sparare cazzate. Rimane però il fatto che mi esalta. Mi esalta lei come personaggio, i suoi videoclip e, soprattutto, la sua musica.

I'm sorry for last Saturday, but I've been quite busy and I couldn't find the right time to dedicate to this column.
Talking about serious stuff:
who knows me is aware of the fact that I have periodically a big hit exciting me and I use to put it on in no matter what occasion: parties (glorious time gone), dinners, in my car, but especially in my trusted and loved old mp3 player. Well, Bad Girls has been one of these for quite a long time. That's why I was expecting the coming out of the album with frenzy and expectancy. Finally (Bad Girls came out in far January 2012) it arrived, Matangi. The first listen has been, as usual, 'particular'.Then I put it in my, above mentioned, mp3 player and, walking through Turin's streets I've had the possibility of completely enjoying this album: its bassline, its melodies, its pseudo exoticism and its brilliant electronic naffness.
I admit I've known M.I.A. thanks to her participation to The Millionaire' soundtrack and from that moment on I started to listen to her music consciously. It's right to admit one's own limits; and this is another one between mine: I know nothing about rap and hip hop. So I'm not here to 'judge' her tendency, her influences and her innovation, I'd only risk to say idiocies. But the fact that she inflames me lasts. She excites me with her character, with her video clips and, on top of all this with her music.
