Mi distrae con le sue news e mi ricorda che il mondo della musica e lei soprattutto non si ferma mai! Critica e irriverente, cantante biellese, Federica Farassini ci parla dei Boxerin Club!!

Boxerin Club - Aloha Krakatoa

Voglio iniziare questa recensione dicendo che di base non mi piace la world music. Non mi è mai piaciuto Paul Simon, nè tanto meno i Vampire Weekend, e questa band romana prende a piene mani il testimone contemporaneo di questo filone.

chiederete 'ma allora che vuoi? Parla d'altro no?!', beh no. Parlerò di loro, senza conflitti d'interesse (forse è la prima volta che accade da quando scrivo per LesMademoiselles), e la cosa mi è particolarmente stimolante.

Bene, si tratta, per chi ancora non li conoscesse, di una band giovane - i cinque componenti sono tutti nati tra il 1989 ed il 1992 - ma con stoffa da vendere. Abili nella stesura del pezzo e nella sua esecuzione, intonati ed armonici, con un inglese corretto, polistrumentisti e molto carini, che, come spesso dico, non guasta mai.

Mi è stato riferito, da chi ha avuto occasione di vederli live, che dal vivo sono uno spettacolo: bravura, maestria e, soprattutto, allegria la fanno da padrone. D'altronde, chi decide di comporre ed incidere un album con queste sonorità deve essere sempre per forza un presobene sul palco (e forse è questa la cosa che meno mi convince della world music. Sentitevi liberissimi di pensare che non ci capisco una mazza). Hanno, inoltre una bella produzione alle spalle: come etichetta Bomba dischi e come produttore dell'album Marco Fasolo (leader dei Jennifer Gentle), una bella sfilza di videoclip ben riusciti, di cui quello che ho preferito, come fattura, è quello di 'Bah Boh' girato con un drone sui tetti di Roma (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b82TCCR92NI), ma devo ammettere che anche il live di 'Hedgehogs' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85JmU2N1PVU) ha un'ottima qualità ed un'ottima presa sonora. Inoltre hanno un curriculum di innumerevoli date live in giro per l'Italia (e non https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2LcTUncA4), cosa che ha evidentemente fatto acquisire loro un'ottima padronanza dello stage. Mi piacerebbe, quindi, proprio molto, vederli dal vivo, per poter confermare le voci giuntami, per cui li attendo con ansia dalle parti di Torino.

Boxerin Club - Aloha Krakatoa

I want to begin this review by saying that I don't like world music. I've never loved Paul Simon and least of all Vampire Weekend, and this Roman band has the contemporary baton of this genre.

Now you'll ask yourselves 'then why are you talking about them? Talk about someone else?!', well no. I'll talk about them, without conflicts of interest (and probably is the first time it happens since when I write on LesMademoiselles), and it 's kinda stimulating.

Well, we're talking about a very young band - they were all born between 1989 and 1992 - but with the genius of the real artists. Able in composing and executing, in tune and harmonic, with a good English, skilled on different instruments and really good looking, that, as I'm used to say, is never a bad thing.

I've been told, by someone that has had the chance of seeing them live, that they're amazing in live gigs: cleverness, prowess and, above all, brightness are the ingredients. After all, who decides to compose and to press an album with this kind of sonorities has always perforce to be happy on stage (and probably this is the thing that less persuades me of the world music.  Feel free to think that I understand nothing). Furthermore, they have a very good production behind them: Bomba dischi as label and as producer Marco Fasolo (Jennifer Gentle's leader), a good string of nice videoclips, between which the one I prefer is 'Bah Boh' shot with a drone above the roofs of Rome (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b82TCCR92NI), but I have to admit that even the live performance of 'Hedgehogs '(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85JmU2N1PVU) is a very good quality clip with a good sound take. Moreover they have in their curriculum a long list of live gigs all around Italy (but not only https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2LcTUncA4), that evidently taught them how to conduct a good live. This for saying that I'd really love to see them live, in order to be able to confirm the rumors about them.
